Newsletter Term 2 Week 11
From the Principal

The staff and I are extremely proud of the learning that has occurred over the last term. The children and staff have celebrated so many wonderful achievements this term and I would like to take this opportunity to thank my dedicated staff for providing so many of these opportunities. For the families who were able to attend the assembly yesterday afternoon you would have witnessed a very strong Catholic identity through prayer, some incredible home learning projects and a singing performance that left us all speechless. The behaviour of students was exceptional and the pride on the students' faces when they received awards was the perfect ending to a hard working term.
The builders will have the under cover area finished over the holidays and students will move into the new building within the first month of Term 3. The new building will enable so much more flexibility with learning spaces and free up the hall for special projects.
I hope everyone has a very restful break and comes back excited for Term Three.

First Day of Term 3 and Closure Day
The first day of Term Three will be Monday 21st July. There will also be a school closure day on Friday 29th August.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thanks to all our families who were able to have a parent teacher interview this week or a PSGs prior to this week. The ongoing partnership between parents and teacher is vital in ensuring a consistent progression of learning throughout a school year. Reading at home and regularly discussing your child's school day is very important in keeping students connected to their learning. I encourage parents to organise an interview early next term if they haven't had one this week.
Uniform Reminder
At St Kieran’s, we believe our school uniform is an important part of creating a strong sense of belonging and pride in our school community. We kindly ask for your support in ensuring that all students are wearing the correct school uniform each day, including school jumpers, appropriate shoes, and pants/shorts/skirts.
We understand that sometimes circumstances can make this difficult. If your family is experiencing challenges with accessing parts of the uniform, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the school. We’re here to help and can support families confidentially as needed.
Just a reminder that the winter uniform includes:
- St Kieran’s polo shirt
- School jumper or jacket
- Navy blue pants, shorts, or skirt (girls)
- Grey school pants or shorts (boys) or blue shorts on sports days only
- All Black school shoes/runners (no coloured runners except on sports days)
- Grey socks for boys and white socks/ navy tights for girls.
Let’s continue to work together to help our children wear their uniform with pride and represent St Kieran’s with respect and unity.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Periods of Extexded Absence
Can we please ask that you email the office administration@stkmoe.catholic.edu.au as well as letting the classroom teacher know if your child/ren are taking extended absences (e.g. surgery, holidays etc).

Grade 4GM news
In Grade 4GM Inquiry, students have been learning about space - including planets, stars and space exploration. As part of the unit students were tasked with creating a model of a space topic of their choice. Then they were asked to present a 2 minute oral presentation to the class and were assessed on their public speaking skills. Students were also required to complete insightful peer reflections for each oral presentation. It has been a fun unit and the students were so excited to share their creations at assembly.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week - SchoolTV

NAIDOC week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is celebrated by all Australians and is a great opportunity to recognise and learn more about the history and culture of Indigenous communities.
NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced back to the Aboriginal rights movement, when on Australia Day 1938, protestors marched through the streets of Sydney to highlight the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. Today, it is a week-long celebration held in July that consists of range of traditional and contemporary activities.
NAIDOC Week is an important event that helps build positive relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people. It enables a deeper understanding of our differences and similarities and is a great opportunity for all Australians to eliminate bias and discrimination by reflecting and reconciling the wrongs of the past to facilitate hope and build a fairer future. Families are encouraged to join in and support young people in learning the significance of NAIDOC Week.
This Special Report offers suggestions on how families can celebrate NAIDOC Week together. We hope you take a moment to reflect on the information offered, and as always, we welcome your feedback. If this raises any concerns for you, a loved one or the wellbeing of your child, please seek medical or professional help.

Beleza Uniforms
Beleza have advised that there was a significant fire at the warehouse location at 151-159 Princes Hwy, Hallam. As a result, a substantial amount of stock has been lost, the extent of which we are still investigating.
This will have the most substantial impact on schools whose uniform is sold in our Hallam store, but will likely impact all schools to a degree since the fire impacted a primary warehousing location. Further details have been provided in the below letter.
