Newsletter Term 3 Week 2 2025
From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,
This week our Foundation students reached the special milestone of 100 Days of Foundation! It’s hard to believe that our youngest learners have already completed one hundred days of school. What a joyful and meaningful journey it has been so far!
The 100 Days celebration will be formally recognised next Friday 8th August where the students and their teachers will dress up in colourful clothes or imitate someone elderly. This day is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the remarkable growth, learning, and resilience these young students have shown since their very first day at St Kieran’s.
Over the past 100 days, our Foundation students have:
- Learned to read, write, count, and explore the world with curiosity
- Built new friendships and learned how to be part of a community
- Grown in independence, confidence, and compassion
- Filled our classrooms and playgrounds with laughter, questions, and wonder
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Foundation teachers and Education Support Officers, whose warmth, patience, and creativity make every day engaging and safe for our little learners. Their care lays the foundation not just for academic success, but for a lifelong love of learning.
Thank you also to our wonderful parents and families. Your support—whether it’s helping with morning routines, attending assemblies, or encouraging reading at home—makes an enormous difference. We are partners in this journey, and your involvement enriches our school community.
To our Foundation students: We are so proud of you! You have learned so much in just 100 days, and we can’t wait to see where the next 100 will take you.
DOSCEL School Review
At St Kieran’s, we are always seeking ways to grow, reflect, and ensure we are delivering the best possible learning and wellbeing outcomes for our students. As part of this commitment to ongoing improvement, our school undertakes an External School Review every four years. Our REVIEW process will take place over three days from Monday 11th August -Wednesday 13th August
The review is a valuable opportunity for us to look closely at how well our school is operating, how we are meeting curriculum requirements, and how effectively we are supporting student learning and wellbeing. It’s not about ticking boxes—it’s about recognising what we’re doing well and identifying areas where we can continue to grow.
The review will involve:
- Classroom visits
- Discussions with staff, students and parents
- Examination of planning documents and curriculum delivery
- A close look at school improvement priorities and outcomes
This is a normal part of a school’s improvement cycle and is a positive process that helps affirm the great work already happening at St Kieran’s, while also guiding our next steps forward.
We look forward to sharing the outcomes with our school community once the review is complete. Most importantly, this process is a chance to celebrate our strengths, acknowledge our shared goals, and ensure that every student continues to thrive at St Kieran’s.
Assembly - Friday 8th August
Our next school assembly will be Friday 8th August beginning at 2.10pm in the school hall. Grade 2D will lead us in prayer focusing on the Feast Day of Mary MacKillop and our Foundation students will share their celebration of 100 days of Foundation.
Anaphylaxis and Asthma
It is timely to remind all school families of our need to be allergy aware when packing school snacks and lunches. We have several students across the School for whom contact with a known allergen can have dire consequences. Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that is potentially life threatening. Common allergens include (but are not limited to) nuts, eggs and shellfish. The School requests that parents, students and members of staff do not provide foods with known allergens for consumption at school. The school canteen will not use, provide, nor prepare foods containing known allergens for consumption or use at school, but may stock those labelled “may contain traces of nuts”.
Where necessary, class teachers will inform families of any other foods which will be encouraged to not bring to school. The School’s policy and procedures for the management of students with anaphylaxis and asthma is available from the office.
Parents of children who have been diagnosed with anaphylaxis or asthma are reminded that they are obligated to provide the School with an accurate and updated Action Plan each year. Students will not be able to attend school unless these documents are up to date. The School has a legal and moral obligation to keep the students safe and parent cooperation is vital to ensure that this duty of care can be fulfilled.
Periods of Extended Leave
Can we please ask that you email the office administration@stkmoe.catholic.edu.au as well as letting the classroom teacher know if your child/ren are taking extended absences (e.g. surgery, holidays etc).
You are also able to add any extended absence up to 10 school days in PAM.
Other Absences
If your child is away sick or away due to a planned absence or appointment, please ensure you advise the school office. Student absence text messages are sent out if your child is marked as absent without a reason. In some cases, if you email your child's classroom teacher, they may be away and may not be able to check their emails to forward to the office. It is imperative that you notify the office through one of the following methods:
- Log into PAM (Parent Access Module) and register your child's absence;
- Email administration@stkmoe.catholic.edu.au
- Phone the office on 51273606
When sending an email, you may wish to "cc" your child's classroom teacher so they are aware of the absence too.
Fee Statements
Fee Statements will be emailed out today to all families with a school fee balance remaining. School fees are due for payment by Friday 31st October 2025. If you are making part payments, please ensure the balance is paid by the due date. Please let our office know if you have any questions or concerns.
Mindfull Aus Visit - Supporting Student Wellbeing
Last week, students in Grades 2–6 were fortunate to take part in a special wellbeing session with Mindfull Aus. Through fun, age-appropriate activities and discussions, students explored the importance of looking after their mental and emotional health.
They learned practical strategies to help manage big feelings, build resilience, and show kindness to themselves and others. It was a valuable opportunity to reflect on how we can all stay mentally healthy and support each other – both at school and at home.
We thank Mindfull Aus for their inspiring work and ongoing commitment to youth wellbeing!

Lost Property
There is a lot of unnamed school uniforms in the lost property. Can you please come and have a look through lost property if your child is missing some uniform. We kindly ask that you label all items of the school uniform.
Sibling Relationships
Sibling relationships are often a child's first and longest-lasting social connection. These bonds can offer companionship, support and opportunities to develop important life skills such as empathy, negotiation and conflict resolution. However, like all close relationships, sibling dynamics can be complex. Differences in temperament, age, needs and parental attention can all contribute to tension or rivalry. It's not uncommon for children to compete for attention, especially during times of change or stress.
As a parent or caregiver, your role in shaping the tone of sibling relationships is vital. Creating a home environment that celebrates each child's unique strengths and avoids direct comparisons helps reduce rivalry and fosters mutual respect.
By listening without judgement, teaching emotional regulation, and supporting each child's individuality, you can create a family culture where siblings feel secure and valued. This edition of SchoolTV offers insights to support young people in developing positive, lasting sibling bonds that can remain strong well into adulthood.
